Pairing the mattress with a waterproof cover, fitted sheet and keeping the sleep space clear of loose bedding is also important.

Most cot beds require a mattress measuring approximately 140 x 70 cm, while standard cots typically use 120 x 60 cm. Always check your cot or cot bed’s specifications and ensure the mattress fits snugly with no gaps over 30mm around the edges.

The best cot bed mattress is one that is firm and flat. A firm surface supports your baby’s development and helps reduce the risk of suffocation. Look for high-quality materials, good airflow, and a design that maintains its shape over time.
