Frequently asked questions

When choosing a mattress, consider:
- the correct size and fit
- firmness and support
- ease of cleaning (removable covers)
- compliance with UK safety standards
A well-chosen mattress plays an important role in creating a safe and comfortable sleep space for your baby.

All the baby mattress collection including the cot mattresses have a removable and machine washable cover.

Reusing a mattress is not generally recommended unless it is in excellent condition, fits the cot perfectly, and has been well cared for. Over time, mattresses can lose firmness and hygiene, which may affect safety.

It’s recommended to replace a baby mattress if it shows signs of wear, sagging, or damage. Many parents choose to use a new mattress for each child to ensure optimal hygiene and support.

Our cot bed mattresses are designed with your little one’s comfort in mind. Selected mattresses feature a soft bamboo-derived fabric cover, chosen for its comfortable feel against delicate skin and also for it's natural hypoallergenic properties.

If your baby has sensitive skin or allergies, we recommend checking the individual mattress specifications for details of the materials used.

"The safest mattress for a newborn is one that is:
- firm and flat
- correctly sized for the cot or cot bed
- compliant with UK safety standards
Pairing the mattress with a waterproof cover, fitted sheet and keeping the sleep space clear of loose bedding is also important.

A baby mattress should be firm rather than soft. This helps support your baby’s spine and reduces the risk of rolling into the mattress. Soft mattresses are not recommended for infants, as they can increase safety risks.

Most cot beds require a mattress measuring approximately 140 x 70 cm, while standard cots typically use 120 x 60 cm. Always check your cot or cot bed’s specifications and ensure the mattress fits snugly with no gaps over 30mm around the edges.
