Cot bed mattresses in 140 x 70 cm

Every CuddleCo cot bed takes a 140 x 70 cm mattress, and so do most cot beds sold in the UK, so this is the size to choose if your bed converts into a toddler bed. Our three cot bed mattresses give you a clear choice: the Lullaby in nursery-grade foam, the Harmony with open-coil springs, and the Signature with pocket springs. All three are hypoallergenic, made in Great Britain, and finished in our signature bamboo fabric. They are naturally antimicrobial and softer than cotton, with a removable cover that washes at 40°C and a waterproof side for the toddler years.

If you have a standard cot or the Clara Mini, you need the smaller 120 x 60 cm size: see our cot mattresses.

Why choose CuddleCo cot bed mattresses?

  • 140 x 70 cm size to fit every CuddleCo cot bed and standard cot beds
  • A clear choice of three: Lullaby foam, Harmony sprung, Signature pocket sprung
  • Hypoallergenic materials for a safe, healthy sleep environment
  • Signature bamboo fabric, antimicrobial, breathable and softer than cotton
  • Dual-sided, with a waterproof side for potty training
  • Removable covers that machine wash at 40°C
  • Made in Great Britain and tested to UK and European safety standards

Foam, sprung or pocket sprung?

All three give the firm, flat surface a baby needs; the difference is feel and depth. The Lullaby foam mattress is light, 7 cm deep and dual-sided, with a waterproof side for the toddler years. The Harmony sprung mattress adds an open-coil spring layer for a little more bounce. The Signature pocket sprung mattress has individual springs that respond to your baby's weight. Frequently asked questions

What size mattress do I need?

Most cot beds require a mattress measuring approximately 140 x 70 cm, while standard cots typically use 120 x 60 cm. Always check your cot or cot bed’s specifications and ensure the mattress fits snugly with no gaps over 30mm around the edges.

Do cot bed mattresses fit all cot beds?

No, cot bed mattresses don’t fit all cot beds, as sizes can vary between models and manufacturers. It’s important to check the recommended mattress dimensions for your specific cot bed before buying to ensure you choose the correct fit.

For your baby’s safety ensure the mattress fits snugly within the cot bed frame, with no significant gaps around the edges. You can find the recommended mattress size in the product specifications for your CuddleCo cot bed.

What mattress is best for a cot bed?

The best cot bed mattress is one that is firm and flat. A firm surface supports your baby’s development and helps reduce the risk of suffocation. Look for high-quality materials, good airflow, and a design that maintains its shape over time.

What is the best type of mattress for a cot bed - foam, sprung or pocket sprung?

The best cot bed mattress is one that fits your cot bed correctly and provides a firm, flat sleeping surface for your baby. Foam, sprung and pocket sprung mattresses can all be suitable, provided they meet the relevant safety requirements and are designed for use with your cot bed. All our mattresses come with two unique sides, one with bamboo fabric with hypo-allergenic properties and the reverse has an easy clean waterproof layer.

  • Foam mattresses are generally lightweight and easy to handle, making them practical for everyday use.
  • Sprung mattresses contain a spring system designed to provide additional support as your child moves, with a layer of nursery grade fibre for comfort.
  • Pocket sprung mattresses, our most popular choice due to it's longevity, feature individual pocket springs, designed to respond independently to movement and offer lasting comfort as your child grows.

Whichever type you choose, make sure the mattress is firm, flat, in good condition and the correct size for your cot bed. Always follow the cot bed and mattress manufacturers’ guidance to ensure a safe sleeping environment for your little one.

How do I choose the right baby mattress?

When choosing a mattress, consider:
- the correct size and fit
- firmness and support
- ease of cleaning (removable covers)
- compliance with UK safety standards
A well-chosen mattress plays an important role in creating a safe and comfortable sleep space for your baby.

How firm should a baby mattress be?

A baby mattress should be firm rather than soft. This helps support your baby’s spine and reduces the risk of rolling into the mattress. Soft mattresses are not recommended for infants, as they can increase safety risks.

What is the safest mattress for a baby?

"The safest mattress for a newborn is one that is:
- firm and flat
- correctly sized for the cot or cot bed
- compliant with UK safety standards
Pairing the mattress with a waterproof cover, fitted sheet and keeping the sleep space clear of loose bedding is also important.

Are your mattresses hypoallergenic?

Our cot bed mattresses are designed with your little one’s comfort in mind. Selected mattresses feature a soft bamboo-derived fabric cover, chosen for its comfortable feel against delicate skin and also for it's natural hypoallergenic properties.

If your baby has sensitive skin or allergies, we recommend checking the individual mattress specifications for details of the materials used.

Are mattress covers removable and washable?

All the baby mattress collection including the cot mattresses have a removable and machine washable cover.

Can I reuse a mattress for a second child?

Reusing a mattress is not generally recommended unless it is in excellent condition, fits the cot perfectly, and has been well cared for. Over time, mattresses can lose firmness and hygiene, which may affect safety.

How often should I replace a baby mattress?

It’s recommended to replace a baby mattress if it shows signs of wear, sagging, or damage. Many parents choose to use a new mattress for each child to ensure optimal hygiene and support.
