This cot mattress unites natures finest Tencel fibres and Purotex probiotic, that when combined, enhance breathability and help aid cooling and temperature control from birth. These Purotex probiotics permanently clean up allergens, with test results showing that these include dog and cat hair allergens.

The Mother&Baby mattress has a hypoallergenic fibre core that supports your little one from their very first sleep. Frequently asked questions

Can I reuse a mattress for a second child?

Reusing a mattress is not generally recommended unless it is in excellent condition, fits the cot perfectly, and has been well cared for. Over time, mattresses can lose firmness and hygiene, which may affect safety.

How often should I replace a baby mattress?

It’s recommended to replace a baby mattress if it shows signs of wear, sagging, or damage. Many parents choose to use a new mattress for each child to ensure optimal hygiene and support.

Are your mattresses hypoallergenic?

All of our mattresses are manufactured using hypoallergenic materials to support your child's sleep.

What is the safest mattress for a baby?

"The safest mattress for a newborn is one that is:
- firm and flat
- correctly sized for the cot or cot bed
- compliant with UK safety standards
Pairing the mattress with a waterproof cover, fitted sheet and keeping the sleep space clear of loose bedding is also important.

How firm should a baby mattress be?

A baby mattress should be firm rather than soft. This helps support your baby’s spine and reduces the risk of rolling into the mattress. Soft mattresses are not recommended for infants, as they can increase safety risks.

What size mattress do I need?

Most cot beds require a mattress measuring approximately 140 x 70 cm, while standard cots typically use 120 x 60 cm. Always check your cot or cot bed’s specifications and ensure the mattress fits snugly with no gaps over 30mm around the edges.

What mattress is best for a cot bed?

The best cot bed mattress is one that is firm and flat. A firm surface supports your baby’s development and helps reduce the risk of suffocation. Look for high-quality materials, good airflow, and a design that maintains its shape over time.

How do I ensure my baby sleeps safely in a cot bed?

In line with current guidelines we recommend a firm flat mattress in a cot bed. The sleeping area should be clear without soft toys etc, the temperature should be 16-20C and they should be placed on their back. You can find more information on the Lullaby Trust website.
